What is Copyright
Copyright is the law that protects the work of others. This law covers ideas, inventions, music, artwork, writing etc. Copyright also has major implications for school, since it dictates what you can and can't use...even for teachers!

What is Plagiarism?
Plagiarism is straight-up copying someone else's work, taking the work and simply changing a couple words/phrases, or summarizing another's work. While there is no jail time for plagiarism, we are all individuals capable of our own thinking and it is morally just to give credit to originators of ideas that we use.

Plagiarism Check:
Did you plagiarize? Check yourself...

1. Did you copy and paste?
2. Did you not quote what you copied and pasted? Have you not cited the original author?
3. If you re-read what you have written does it sound eerily similar to the source?
4. Did you have a hard time understanding the original content? (Perhaps it was hard to put in your own words, or you didn't know how?)

If you answered, "yes" to any or all of these questions, re-think your work, check with a teacher, OR find a new source of information!
